Candy hunt - Lomopipa - Total Drama (Cartoon) [Archive of Our Own] (2024)

After many months of waiting, the spookiest month of the year has arrived! October! That time of the year when adults prepare and buy candy to give to those who come knocking on their door in costumes. That time of the year when young people go to parties in costumes or spend a lot of time making great costumes to show off to everyone.

With this scary time, the biggest party boy in Wawanakwa High School couldn't stay behind and not throw a costume party for all his friends. Normally it would be a really big party with lots of people, seriously, at Geoff's parties anyone who wasn't a cop could come in, except that one time when 2 cops asked them for liquor and stayed at the party for a few hours.

This party was really different in that it was invitation only and no one could know about the party until they received an invitation, since by not receiving an invitation they could not know there was a party, which was very irregular for the blond's parties.

Tyler, as one of Geoff's good friends, was one of the first to receive an invitation and joined a discord group exclusively for the party. He checked the members list every day to see if Alejandro was there, hoping and imagining to have a good time with him at the party and maybe even match costume.

One thing in particular that this party had, apart from the exclusivity, was the start time as it would normally start at 9 or 10 pm until God knows what time. There used to be times when it would last for days. But this time it would start at 7:00 until 11:00 which is quite early and this caused the host to be questioned as to why the time. Geoff didn't say anything to anyone until the day of the party.

Back to Tyler, whenever he came back from practice he always looked at the list of members to see if Alejandro had finally been added. Heather, Cody, Harold, Leshawna, DJ, Duncan, Lindsay, the list went on and on making Tyler worry when he didn't see Alejandro at any point and the closer the day got, the more he lost hope. One day when he came home from practice he looked at the group and soon wrote to the Spaniard to match outfits.

The Spaniard agreed and they agreed to dress up as a vampire and zombie respectively, so on the 31st Tyler, Lindsay and Heather were at the jock's house getting ready for the party. It was 6:30 PM, Lindsay was doing Heather's makeup while Tyler came out of the bathroom in his zombie costume.

"You're taking too long in the bathroom!" Lindsay demanded "Come in here to do your makeup before Alejandro comes" Heather stood and looked at herself in her mirror, leaving the spot free for Tyler.

"This costume had too many holes in it and my arms didn't fit right" Tyler closed his eyes as Lindsay began applying the green paint.

"Heather told you to hurry up and not do things last minute" Tyler didn't see it but Heather nodded, still a little irritated by Tyler's carelessness.

"I know, I know, but I got distracted watching videos!" Tyler complained.

"Imagine if I hadn't come with my costume already on, it would have been a catastrophe" Lindsay continued to paint.

"Not to spoil the scolding, but Alejandro is already outside" Tyler's eyes widened in surprise and Lindsay got paint inside the eye.

"SORRY" Lindsay grabbed a cloth and began to wipe it off as quickly as possible. "We'll continue this in the car" Heather grabbed her purse and Lindsay's and started down the stairs as Tyler continued to complain about his eye.

"Get over it Kenard." She rolled her eyes opening the door letting them in.

Tyler and Lindsay went in the back of the car to continue their makeup and Heather sat next to Alejandro.

"Is there any context to what happened?" Alejandro asked as he started the car.

"Your stupid boyfriend took longer than he should have to put on his costume and when Lindsay was painting his face she put paint in his eye" Heather commented as she put on her mask.

"At least he has a recognizable costume, but what are you?" Alejandro asked mockingly.

"I can answer that! We're Wonder Woman and Catwoman" Lindsay replied "Tyler told me you guys were going to match costumes so me and Heather did the same thing"

"Good thing Heather already has her claws sharpened" They frowned, looking at each other for a second.

"And... done " Lindsay set the face paint aside and let Tyler look at himself in the mirror.

"I really do look like a zombie!" He made some grimaces and sounds a zombie would make.

"You really do look like one" Alejandro let out a few chuckles "BTW I got you what you asked for" Alejandro handed him a small taper with some sort of orange thing inside.

"Sweet! Thanks dude" Tyler took the taper and opened it, showing the contents to Lindsay.

"What's that?" Lindsay took a small piece off the top.

"It's called Turron, it's like a sweet dough that has honey in between layers and on the top along with some sprinkles and colored candy made of sugar" Tyler took a small piece after explaining. "Al's family is celebrating something called Dia de la Cancion Criolla today and they eat this for dessert" Tyler continued to talk excitedly about the cultural holiday his boyfriend's family was having.

"So all the people who speak Spanish celebrate that on Halloween?" Lindsay asked and that was the only question the jock couldn't answer.

"I don't know... Al?" They both looked at the driver.

"It's a Peruvian celebration although not everyone celebrates it, but in my house they always follow the tradition."

"Can I have a piece of that thing?" Heather turned to look at the other two and ask. Lindsay quickly handed her a small piece. "Tastes better than I thought" She wiped her mouth with a napkin.

"You'll have to keep eating later because we're here" Alejandro parked his car near Geoff's house and already in the distance he could see some of his friends.

Alejandro let Heather and Lindsay go ahead, leaving them alone for a while.

"Is your eye okay?" he carefully took Tyler's face for a moment to look at the eye more closely. It looked quite red and irritated and that worried him.

"I'm fine, nothing to worry about, dude, it just bothers me a little, but nothing to worry about" Tyler tried to put the subject aside, but Alejandro's concerned look told him he hadn't succeeded. "Hey, look, I think we're the last ones, let's go!" He took him by the hand and they went to the front of the house where the rest of their friends were.

"Why is everyone outside?" Alejandro asked once he got to Heather's side.

"No one knows and Geoff has not come out yet" At that moment Geoff came out and stood in front of everyone on top of a bench that was nearby.

"Nice costumes everybody and also happy Halloween" The blond was dressed as ghostface and took off his mask to continue with his explanation. "I know many are wondering why so few guests and why at such an early hour".

"Because you are finally thinking about the people who don't have all night?" Courtney asked.

"Obviously not for that but for another more special reason" A drum roll was heard for a few seconds. "We're going to have a competition of who collects the most candy!" The grumbling and excitement was not long in coming.

"Can't we just stay in the house?" Noah asked with his usual low spirits.

"Nope, now let's say what you'll get out of all this" Geoff coughed into his fist, clearing his voice. "You'll all split into teams of two and you'll have to go all over the neighborhood looking for candy and if you're lucky some of them will give you a map of the houses that give the most candy. To get into the party you will have to have at least a handful of candy to get in and if you still don't see the point of fetching candy then the team that has the most candy at the end of the night will win a special prize. You have two hours. Good luck!"

As soon as the host finished speaking everyone started to go here and there and there and here to find their partner. It took Heather a little while to get used to all the movement and she noticed that Lindsay was with Beth, Coutney was with Gwen, Leshawna was with Harold and Izzy was with Eva.

"I guess that leaves the two of us together" Duncan approached Heather.

"And your friends?"

"Owen is with Noah, Dj is with Geoff, Tyler is with La Cucaracha and Justin is with Zeke" Duncan folded his arms and frowned slightly.

"Your friends are as loyal as you" Heather scoffed and Duncan glared at her.

"I can say the same for yours" The roles reversed and Heather just rolled her eyes.

"Anyway, let's just go get some candy and come back."

--

Tyler and Alejandro stood for a while as everyone chose their partners and slowly Tyler turned to look at him with a smile on his face.

"Do you want to be my partner?" he scratched the back of his neck.

"Uhm, no" Alejandro said sarcastically, but Tyler apparently didn't get it as he just stared at him with his mouth open. "I was kidding."

"Whew, you scared me for a second" Tyler laughed and then grabbed his boyfriend's hand and ran to one of the trick-or-treating houses.

No one would think it would be hard to get candy since where Geoff lived there were a lot of houses and that meant a lot of candy. The only thing they were worried about was the children, since by this time there were so many of them, the streets were flooded with children.

"I think we should hurry if we don't want to run out of trick or treaters" Alejandro said as they continued walking around looking at all the costumes.

"Why don't we start here?" Tyler pointed to a house and when Alejandro nodded they both went over. They knocked on the door and waited for the door to open.

"Trick or treat" They said in unison as soon as a young man walked out the door.

"You are Geoff's friends and are invited to the party?" The boy looked at them wearily and with little encouragement, but when they both nodded it was as if he came back to life. "WOO! Finally! You don't know how long I've been waiting for this, literally everyone I asked if they were his friends said yes to the first part and no to the other." The boy handed them a small map and candy.

"Thank you and happy Halloween" They both woke up and took a moment to look at the map.

"I guess if we go a certain route it would be more efficient to have candy" Alejandro traced an imaginary path on the map with his finger.

"Then let's run! We have to win" Tyler grabbed his arm and they started running again.

--

"This is stupid" Duncan mentioned as they walked looking for a house that wasn't full of kids or teenagers.

"Can you hurry up and get some candy so we can get going?" Heather scoffed as she rolled her eyes.

"If you want to humiliate yourself in front of a bunch of kids by going and trick-or-treating, be my guest, but if you want me to do it, you wait."

"And why don't you just steal from a kid, you're an expert at it" At that moment a smile grew on the Duncan and Heather realized the guy didn't understand sarcasm.

"You're not going to steal from a kid with that many people watching, surely you wouldn't do it" Heather saw him as very capable, but she hoped Duncan would use his head just once and not do something stupid.

Duncan walked up to some kids a few years younger and threatened to beat them up if they didn't hand over the bags. The kids ran off and the green-haired man looked at the bags with pride.

"You sure feel so good about yourself now, you stole from some little kids, congratulations."

"You suggested it, I just played along" At that point Duncan made a face of getting another idea and looked at Heather with a grin on his face. "You want to win the competition?" Heather looked at him confused.

--

An hour and a half had passed since the start of the competition and although many teams had already given up and were in Geoff's room resting, some were still searching for candy.

Alejandro and Tyler's team had split up to cover more ground in order to get 110% of the expected candy. With 20 minutes left on the clock they gathered at the first house they went.

"Okay, if it's 10 houses from here to the front and counting the ones across the street that would be 20 along with the other 20 behind us that would be 40 and if 10 of them, which are the ones that gave us the most candy according to the map, gave us about 30 on average we would have 300 and counting the 30 common houses, which on average gave us 15, we would have 450 plus the 300 would give us 750 in total" Alejandro rambled as he did the math and Tyler carried the giant bag of candy back to the house.

"So??" Tyler dared to ask once Alejandro fell silent.

"We have a lot of candy and I don't think they're going to beat us" He ruffled his hair a little.

"YEAH! We are going to win" Tyler started dragging the bag faster to the door.

Alejandro helped him get the monstrosity through the door and into the center of the living room. Almost everyone in the room was amazed at the amount of candy.

"I don't think we're going to win chubby buddy" Noah patted Owen on the back when they saw the bag. "You can eat the candy now" At least that would be his consolation.

"I guess we have our winners" Geoff looked at them and Tyler's eyes lit up when he heard that.

"Not so fast" A voice was heard from the doorway and they all turned to look in amazement at the even bigger bag Duncan was carrying.

"it won't get through" Heather pushed harder from behind until it finally got inside.

"Now I can say we have our winners!" Geoff clapped his hands and grabbed Duncan's arm, lifting him up.

Alejandro and Tyler were perplexed by what had just happened. They had planned everything really well, they had done the calculations and how could they possibly have been beaten.

"Congratulations, you won an all-inclusive trip to Hawaii!" everyone was shocked at such a revelation and it didn't make Alejandro or Tyler feel any better.

"I told you robbing that store would do the trick" Duncan whispered in Heather's ear.

"Maybe next time we can win?" Alejandro said somewhat hesitantly, trying to encourage his boyfriend.

Tyler just nodded with teary eyes.
